Volunteers: Category Staff

If you would like to be added to our database of potential category staff volunteers (ie. the main staffers who deal with applications and other forms), please read the following requirements and then fill out the form below. Please keep in mind though that there are many staff volunteers listed and so if you are contacted at all, it may not be for a long time.

NOTE: If you are interested in trouble-checking too, you may wish to submit your information to our database of potential trouble-checking volunteers as we are currently on the lookout for new trouble-checkers!

When it comes to running categories, we're looking for people with the following:

Loads of free time :: Being a category staffer is a very time-consuming job. Even for small categories, it will cost you several hours a week, so please don't apply to be a category staffer if you don't have plenty of free time!
Website experience :: No newbies. Don't fill out the form below if you've just built your first website. We're looking for people who (preferably) have several years of web design experience, who know FTP and HTML very well and are not afraid of learning new things like some PHP and mySQL.
Thick skin :: You will get many threatening emails, hate emails, etc. when you're a staff member. You have to be able to let all nasty comments slide off your back without letting them upset you. If you're not the kind of person who can deal with hate mail, being a staffer is going be a very upsetting job for you.
No temper :: No matter how rude people are to you, no matter how angry they make you, you must always reply to them in a polite manner, so please don't apply if you have a temper and tend to yell at people quickly.
Good English skills :: A lot of people from non-English speaking countries visit The Anime Fanlistings Network and we have staff members from all over the world, however, all communication will be in English, so your English has to be good to excellent to be able to reply to emails properly.
Ability to make new friends :: The staff is pretty close and we have our own forums where we talk, vent and laugh. If you are to be a staff member, you are expected to join in and reply to the posts we make. :)
